Uno studio del 2007 mostra come il finanziamento pubblico aumenta la richiesta degli aborti. Secondo alcuni studi sociologici l'aborto illegale si traduce nella riduzione di 1/3 del numero di aborti.
Secondo questa stima quindi nel 2004
45571 feti non sarebbero stati abortiti e quindi 45571 bambini sarebbero nati
91144 donne avrebbero comunque abortito in clandestinità .
Secondo L'Organizzazione Mondiale della Sanità , nei paesi sviluppati, l'aborto clandestino si correla ad una mortalità materna pari allo 0,03%. Una donna ogni 3700 aborti.
Delle 91144 ne sarebbero quindi morte 25 contro 45571 bambini nati.
